Borobudur
Borobudur is one of the most greatest temple in the world.
It founded by the Saliendra dynasty and it build to honour the Buddha and king Bodhisattva.
Borobudur is derived from Sanskrit words vihara Buddha uhr, which means Buddhist monastery on the hill.
Borobudur temple located at Muntilan, Magelang, and is about 42 km from the Yogyakarta city.
Borobudur is built between AD 750 and 842, which is 300 years before Cambodia's Angkow Wat.
It was built in three tiers: A pyramidal base with five concrentric square terraces, the trunk of a cone with a circular platform, and at top consists of a monumental stupa.
The walls are decorated with fine low reliefs with the total surface area 2500 metre square.
Around the circular platform are 72 stupas and each of it containing a statue of Buddha.

It is a process of a hero as well

Repost: Vitruvian Man

Leonardo da Vinci, Vitruvian Man.
• Analysis the human form (body's weight)
• The basis of body proportion
• Human body can be symmetrically inscribed within both a circle and a square
• The navel is right at the middle
• Circle symbolizes infinity and eternity
• Square symbolizes stable and dependable

—— My first sight to this artwork is on the chest of the human figure. Follow by the stretching arms and go down to the body and the legs. The eye view will last fall at the end of the hands and feet, an circle and a square.

Repost: Islamic Museum

During the trip to Islamic Museum, I have learnt alot.

The Museum is a magical place with a long history of lots of interesting stuff.
The museum is divided into many galleries that display different categories of historical collection.

These are the things that I considered as interesting among the others in this museum:

the Kijang Coins

It shows a vast collection of early Malay coinage from Semenanjung Tanah Melayu.

The Kijang coins derived their name from the motif of the Malayan barking deer.
This motif is used as the logo of Bank Negara Malaysia.

It is interesting because coins are the thing that we are using in daily life, but it is so much different between the Kijang Coins and the coins that we are using now.

The design that embossed on the coins are much different with now.
It shows a Kijang deer facing to the left with its tail rising. There is also a moon and sun above it.

The other historical things in the museum:

Gladiator (Ravindran a/l Munusamy 1106636)

For the movie Gladiator, rather then the best scene, I prefer the overall storyline. It’s look cool to watch the movie. It combines a simple, but moving, story with beautiful scenery, filming, direction and score. And it is truly a "complete" movie.

I liked how there were only two or three issues within this film. One was the afterlife. Aspects of the afterlife are opened, but not overdone. Love of family is given sizable focus. I liked the theme of love of country that we see as well, although it may not be justly deserved, it is never questioned.

Russell Crowe is brilliant in his role as Maximus, the "general who became a slave, who became a gladiator, who defied an emperor." Crowe's intense style is perfect for the relentless determination and confidence of Maximus. Joaquin Phoenix is equally wonderful in his role as Commodus, the corrupt emperor. He plays a great villain.

There were some scenes in particular that really struck me, such as when Crowe appears to be floating over the ground very fast.

Borobudur (Ravindran a/l Munusamy 1106636)

Borobudur, or Barabudur, is a 9th – century Mahayana Buddist monument. It is located in Mangelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside a perforated stupa.

Approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Yogyakarta and 86 kilometres west of Surakarta, Borobudur is located in an elevated are between two twin volcanoes, Sundoro-Sumbing and Merbabu-Merapi, and two rivers, the Progo and the Elo.

During the restoration in the early 20th century, it was discovered that three Buddhist temples in the region, Borobudur, Pawon and Mendut, are positioned along a straight line. Borobudur is built as a single large stupa, and when viewed from above takes the form of a giant tantric Buddhist mandala, simultaneously representing the Buddhist cosmology and the nature of mind. The foundation is a square, approximately 118 metres on each side. It has nine platforms, of which the lower six are square and the upper three are circular. The upper platform features seventy-two small stupas surrounding one large central stupa. Each stupa is bell-shaped and pierced by numerous decorative openings. Statues of the Buddha sit inside the pierced enclosures.

If terms of Borobudur, it took the form of a step pyramid. The construction of stone pyramids is based on native beliefs that mountains and high places are the abode of ancestral spirits. Instead of being built on a flat surface, Borobudur is built on a natural hill.
