HISTORY

History is a term that originates from Greek, which means question, knowledge acquire by observation or research. This is the meaning where I get from dictionary or internet.

In my opinion, history is something that happened in the past and was remembered or recorded in book as references.

History can also be defined as a story of a certain things. As an example, I myself also have my own history. Everything that happened in the past has become a history in my family.

ART

Art is used to express the feeling of a people. Therefore, anything can also be an art.

A drawing created by Pablo Picasso is a type of art, but a drawing created by a 3 years old children is also an art. Art is not restricted by age.

So we cannot say that art can only be created by famous people, everyone also can create their own art.

Wall painting or graffiti at Pasar Seni drain is also a kind of art. That is another way of the artists expressed their feeling through the painting.

DESIGN

Design means decorating or creating something new to a product. It is also a way used by the manufacturer to convince the consumer to purchase their products.

Design can be divided into many field such as graphic design, fashion design, interior design and etc.

Design can be applied into anything. In a photo, it might contains a few elements or principles of design.

Not only a designer can do design. Everyone has the sense of design too. It is just the different way of present their design or creativity. Design also helps someone to express their feelings.

For an example, a water bottle is designed with different patterns to suit the different age of the needs of consumers. We will rarely buy a plain bottle. Therefore, designers must do the design such as pattern on the bottles to attract the consumer to look at it and purchase it.

What do you want from this course?

Actually when I choose this course is because I interesting in multimedia but UTAR did not have the course when i register. So what I want from this course is I hope i can learn how to do a good design and new things in my 3 years degree life

What do you want to be doing in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?

After I graduate, i think i will work as a photographer to gain experience. After that i plan to continue to futher study. In 20 years, I plan to travel around the world to take as many photo as I can.

What do you hope to get from this particular class?

I did not take art subject when i'm in secondary school. Therefore, i do not have any understanding to any famous painter and do not know anything about the history of art. I hope that I can learn new things that i do not know before and get more information from my lecture and tutor. I also hope that i can know more history and information about the country I stay in.

Is history of art and design necessary do you think for your larger goals?

Yes, because it help me to know history and it might be use when i am working.
